MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD AT THE SHED
ON WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY 2009

President Graham opened the meeting at 12.35 p.m.

Present: As per the Attendance Book - 15, including new member Bob Pack, a six-year former member of Grenfell Men's Shed.

Apologies: T. Aspin, R. Harlow, C. Chambers, C. Williams, G. Padfield, P. Bounds, R. Steingrube and C. Pennells. An apology was also received from B. Molyneux who was delayed working on Mrs. J. Hillier's job as per the workbook.

Minutes: Moved by R. Randall, seconded B. King, that the minutes as circulated, be confirmed. CARRIED

Matters Arising from the Minutes: Nil.

Correspondence In: Nil.

Correspondence Out: Clr. Paul Green, Mayor Shoalhaven City Council, regarding our development application for a further extension to the current building.

It was moved by K. Merrifield, seconded B. Owens, that the Correspondence Out be endorsed. CARRIED

Business Arising from Correspondence: Treasurer K. Merrifield commented on our development application, setting out relevant reasons for the expansion and its subsequent use; pointing out the escalation in value of the premises and the possible use of the extended social area for future community use. It was also pointed out that the usual venues for community meetings - Community Centre and Bowling Club - now charge for any meeting.

REPORTS Treasurer: Ken Merrifield circulated his report as per sheet attached to these Minutes in the Minute Book.

Shed Manager: Apology recorded by C. Williams.

Project Manager: Ray Plumb reported that all jobs in the Work Book have either been completed or are in the immediate process nearing completion. Donations have been received from the following community members for small jobs: -

Equipment Officer: Graham Russell reported that all equipment is in good repair. Some discussion resulted from a donation of a garage clean-out of boxes of screws, which will be sorted together with current stock of nuts, bolts, and screws. Ray Plumb volunteered to attempt sorting this asset and pleaded with members to keep the pigeon holes tidy. Assistance for Ray would be appreciated. It was also pointed out that tools MUST be returned after use and benches cleaned before noon closure. Remember - your mess is everybody's mess. It was moved by R. Randall, seconded A. Foster, that an amount up to $650 be used to purchase a bench saw - any amount higher to be referred to President and Treasurer. CARRIED

A phone call from Diane Cato of Greenwell Point for a garage clean-up resulted that Graham Russell and Bill London will investigate on 7th May and report back. Mrs. Cato has been informed.

Fund Raising: Allan Foster reported that arrangements are in place for the Shoalhaven Wine Festival Bunnings style barbecue to be held at the new Mountain Ridge Winery, Coolangatta Road on Saturday 6th June as well as Monday 8th June. The Preschool will operate on Sunday 7th June. Blanching and Crew Sheets are in place on the notice board. 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It was moved by W. London, seconded J. Davis, that the reports be received. CARRIED

GENERAL BUSINESS
¢ Garage and Book Sale. It was decided to hold a Garage and Book Sale on Saturday 20th June 2009. This has come about by the increasing donation of books from members of our community as well as members' families. Possum boxes and myna bird traps will also be sold on the day. Allan Foster has suggested that he commence work on saleable Christmas motifs for sale. Allan displayed a variety of his work
¢ Office Equipment. Secretary Alan informed the meeting the office now has a printer/copier, laminator and an updated computer.
¢ Safety Committee. Has been asked to inform members regarding the use of machinery without instruction. Various appropriate O.H. and S. signs will be displayed.
¢ Web Site. The Shed is now on line as Ken Merrifield has set up our own web site - www.headsmensshed.com.au. He will incorporate history of the Shed including photos taken from the 'get-go' and subsequent extensions, as well as special events.
Members are now informed that the monthly minutes will be published on this web site and hard copy will be delivered only to those who do not have access to computers. Please let Secretary Alan know if you need a hard copy or not.

There being no further business, President Graham closed the meeting at 1.40 p.m.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 3rd June 2009 at 12.30 p.m. preceded by the barbecue at 11.30 a.m.
